They all made it — but who went highest?
The K-Pop Debut Time Machine shows Korean pop groups that debuted around the same time, without their names. Using only clues from debut day, like the number of members, the size of the agency and the concept, you split a $10,000 debut investment. Every group in the game became genuinely popular, so this isn't about spotting flops; it's about guessing who rose highest.

Six debut seasons
2006: a five-member hip-hop boy group from a major agency won MAMA Song of the Year the next year with "Lies." Vocal groups from the same year left hits like "Abracadabra" and "Love's Greeting."
2007: the dawn of the girl-group golden age. One five-member group became the first Korean act on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2009, a nine-member group topped KBS Music Bank for nine straight weeks with "Gee," and a four-member group became huge in Japan.
2009: a four-member girl group won MAMA Song of the Year with "I Don't Care" in its debut year, the first idol group to take a grand prize the year it debuted.
2012–2013: a 12-member group from a major agency sold over a million copies of its first album, while a seven-member hip-hop group from a small agency became, in 2020, the first Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100 with "Dynamite."
2015–2016: a nine-member group that won MAMA Song of the Year with "CHEER UP," a six-member group famous for a rainy-stage performance, and a four-member group that in 2023 became the first Asian act to headline Coachella.
2018–2019: the era of self-producing groups, including a nine-member boy group that has topped the Billboard 200 several times since 2022.
Where do the multiples come from?
There are no public "returns" for pop groups, so the multiples here are a game growth index, not real earnings. They combine public records anyone can check — home success (year-end grand prizes, Circle/Gaon chart No.1s) and overseas success (Billboard 200 and Hot 100), weighted toward overseas — using a rubric published in the guide. On the results screen you can watch each group's official music video from the agency's or artist's own YouTube channel.
Guessing from debut clues alone shows that agency size and early buzz don't decide everything — just ask the seven-member group from a small agency that reached the top of the world.
